Hope someone can help i am preparing a 1984 110 for its mot.

I noticed that the handbrake light doesnt come on, It doesnt seem to have wiring or anything else to indicate it ever had one, But there is a non eluminated light for it on the dash.

Should this be wired ?Do i have to wire this up?Huh

Cheers Bill

Hey bill,

i take it the 110 ten is doing good (think i missed a bargain there!!!!!!! haha)

I spoke 2 my brother regarding the hand brake, he says it should be wired and you'll need it for the m.o.t.

best of luck with it and damn again  Wink

Bill

None of the Defenders I've had, ever had a working handbrake light.  There's a lot of warning laps on the Defender that only work depending on which odel you have

LOL

well at least you no what your dealing with and you got it running, we would have stripped it as we were stuck on the power problem. a bit more complex than my old series 2a!

My girlfriend would have killed my if i bought another one anyway, i spent so much getting the disco through its m.o.t.

Hopefully i'll see it covered in mud at an event soon!

take it easy  Grin

Ive got a 1985 110, it did not have a handbrake light.
if you look inside the handbrake gaitor there is no switch. or wiring.

I fitted a microswitch on the lever and wired it to the handbrake light in the dash just for "fun". but it was never needed for any MOT.

there are lots of warning lights on the defender that are not connected to anything.....

cheers

Hi There

The H/brake w/l is not a legal requirement & therefore is not a testable item in my opinion.
If they try to fail it it should not be possible as the dreaded computer should not offer it as an option on the menu. If they do try ask to see where it is on the menu.
