The first round of the 2010 Scottish Comp Safari Championship will see us pay our first visit to a new site in the Kilpatrick Hills! With many thanks to the Thompson family, we have a fantastic opening event "The Auchentorlie Comp Safari" taking place on their estate near Dumbarton on Sunday 14th March.

On our first venture into this superb venue we can look forward to racing 15 laps of 2.5 miles on varied, good fast tracks, high in the Kilpatrick Hills with brilliant views down the Firth of Clyde!
So get busy with those final pre-season jobs on the car, or start cleaning it from our last event in October, as the case may be! This is not an event to be missed!

For further information please call Ian Stuart on 07811 378826 or Alan Agnew on 0141 881 8993. The event regs are just about finalised and will be posted shortly, all last years entrants will get them emailed also. But the good news is we are still running with anything from the MSA tyre list, all terrain, mud or aggresive, you choose!

A new site and lots of driving means we need more Marshals, if you can be a real help and bring a marshal to this event (go on, talk someone into it, they get a great view of the action!!!!) call Colin Rodger on 07767 726075

Look forward to seeing you all there for the start of another seasons great off road racing.
Other dates for the 2010 diary - 18th April, 15th & 16th May, 20th June, 21st & 22nd August, 11th & 12th September, 17th October

Please ensure you have a valid comp licence and remember that licence renewals cannot be accepted on the day

Times:

Saturday 13th March - The set up will take place from 11.00am and camping is available on site for Saturday night

Sunday 14th March - Scrutineering 8:30-9:30. Marshals briefing 9:00, Marshals in place by 9:30, drivers briefing and presentation of the 2009 season prizes 09:45, drive round lap 10:00 and first lap at 10:30.

Entry fee

£35.00 + a prize for the Marshals Prize Draw (don't forget the prize, very important!!)

Directions:

From the M8 Motorway exit at junction 30 for the Erskine Bridge onto the M898, head north over the bridge taking the left hand lane for Dumbarton A82. After 2 miles on A82, straight on at the roundabout and then about 1/2 mile on, take a right turn onto the unclassified road opposite the Arnold Clark Garage, there will be orange arrows from here to the site.

Looking to enter a few events in this years championship - although I'm not sure if I'll make the first one.  Are the regs out yet?

Well the latest on the event is that as I type this Ian is on site planning the course, marshal numbers are rising, more would be appreciated.

Were getting a lot of interest in the SCCC this year quite a lot of people have bought or are building vehicles to compete in this popular seven round series. We have interest from south of the border as well. So with the mix of new vehicles, existing competitors and the guys from down south, there's certainly going to be a great seasons racing in the Scottish Cross Country Championship this year.

Again if you need regs or have a question give Alan, Ian or myself a call, details above.

Ian, Robert and I had a fantastic day out in the snowy hills above Dumbarton yesterday plotting the course for the forthcoming comp. There is currently about a foot of snow lying over the site with 3 - 4 feet in the drifts, but the course is perfectly drivable, Ian didn't manage to get stuck at all !!! Cracking course in store, all on solid tracks with some narrow twisty stuff through some trees, (which yesterday resembled and alpine ski brochure picture!), a couple of technical bits and lots of wide, flowing, open track, you'll love the fast straights across the plateau at the top of the site with lovely big open hairpins at each end to drift round! And if the snow is still there that will just add to the entertainment!

Would that snow be "waist deep" Alan? (not that you would have used a handy measure  Grin)

While I was generously walking the course in front of Ian's car to make sure he didn't get stuck or drive into anything buried in the snow, I can confirm I did disappear up to the waist at several points!  Cheesy

Just back from helping with the course set up and I can confirm the views are stunning. It should be fun tomorrow as its a wee bit slidy in places, should deliver a good crop of piccies

Just spoke to Ian, the course is all set up and the views are great. For those of you who are still wondering whether to come or not the feedback from the venue is that this will be a great days racing for both competitors and marshals alike.

Signing on starts at 8am and a marshals briefing at 9am, look forward to seeing a few of you there.
